Al Qaeda's Road Paved With Gold

Secret Shipments Traced Through a Lax System In United Arab Emirates

By Douglas Farah
Washington Post Foreign Service
Sunday, February 17, 2002; Page A01

Washington Post's Douglas Farah reports on the trail of the Afghani Gold that was at the heart of Al Qaeda's  treasury.

"DUBAI, United Arab Emirates -- Just as the United States and its allies swept toward Afghanistan's main cities last autumn, the ruling Taliban and Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda network sent waves of couriers with bars of gold and bundles of dollars across the porous border into Pakistan."

It would not be very hard to imagine that the banks in the United Arab Emirates held monies or gold for Al Qaeda.  We should ask what part, if any, the banks in Dubai might have had. in the financing of the attacks of 9/11 and what connection these banks might have to Dubai Ports World.
