When Will US Women Demand Peace?
by: Medea Benjamin
Published in The Nation January 24th, 2006

Whenever I travel to international gatherings to talk about the war in Iraq, economic development and women's rights, the question I get asked most frequently is: "Where are the women in the United States? Why aren't they rising up?"

About Medea Benjamin:
Medea Benjamin is Founding Director of Global Exchange and Code Pink: Women for Peace. For over twenty years, Benjamin has supported human rights and social justice struggles around the world. Benjamin was the Green Party candidate for US Senate from California in 2000.

When Will US Women Demand Peace?

Medea  is the author of eight books, including Bridging the Global Gap, The Peace Corps and More and the award-winning Don't Be Afraid, Gringo: A Honduran Woman Speaks from the Heart. She has helped produce various TV documentaries such as the anti-sweatshop video Sweating for a T-Shirt.

Support Our Troops
Medea Benjamin & Gayle Brandeis | It's easy to slap a magnet on your SUV and feel like you're supporting American soldiers fighting a brutal, far-off war. But the way to really support them is to work to extricate us from the conflict.
