On Dec. 14th, members of the Central Florida Veterans for Peace, along with Code Pink of Volusia/Flagler Counties, and Jewish War Veterans delivered a petition with 924 signatures from the Florida 7th District collected by MoveOn.org to the office of Republican Congressman John Mica.
Newsteams from the Daytona Beach News-Journal, Channel 2 (WESH) Orlando and Channel 6 (WKMG) Orlando were there to document the event.

Other consequences of the War.

The "War on Terror" brought yet another tragedy to Central Florida when Air Marshals shot and killed Rigoberto Alpizar at the Miami airport.  When Rep. Mica was asked for a comment on the shooting of his constituant, he replied

“This shows that the program has worked beyond our expectations,”  Mica is chairman of the House transportation subcommittee on aviation.

Asked on CNN television news whether the marshals shouldn’t be able to distinguish someone suffering from mental illness from a terrorist—as many of Alpizar’s fellow passengers did— Mica replied contemptuously, “Air marshals don’t have time for counseling.”
